Poor pay and working conditions will force Liverpool’s 600 binmen and street cleaners to take industrial action next week after a secret ballot revealed that an overwhelming 97% of workers voted for action, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.

Last-minute talks with employer Enterprise-Liverpool broke down earlier this week, and members of both GMB and Unite unions intend to proceed with the action on Tuesday.
The GMB union has claimed that the industrial action will take the form of hour-long stoppages by each of the public services involved, rather than all-out strikes.
