The
Learning and Skills Council is sending 1,000 managers on a leadership
development programme to instil a consistent culture across the organisation.
Senior
and middle managers will embark this month on the £1m programme which will
focus on leadership, partnership working and innovation.
The
LSC was formed about 18 months ago through the merger of 74 training
organisations, including Training and Enterprise Councils. Its role is to
co-ordinate all post-16 learning.
David
Russell, HR director at the LSC, said the training programme was essential to
promote the organisation’s goals and achieve government targets.
"We
have a huge mix of cultures because of the way we were formed. We need to
develop our culture as staff are all from different backgrounds. It is a
complicated organisation and the jobs are very demanding.
"We
need a consistent culture so we’re putting all senior managers through the
programme," he said.

Russell
hopes the course, being run by Penna, will enable the organisation’s to work
more closely with employers and providers.
