The MA is available on a full and part-time basis. The full-time masters is achievable in one year, while the part-time option will take around four years.
To be admitted, entrants need a postgraduate diploma in personnel management, or an equivalent qualification.
The course focuses on the role of the personnel practitioner as a strategist. It comprises a taught programme in the strategic integration of HRM and research methods. Areas covered include the relationship between strategic HRM and corporate objectives, the internal consultancy function, and advising senior management on strategic HRM issues. The course culminates in a 15-18,000 word dissertation.
The MA is suited to personnel professionals who want a recognised Chartered Institute of Personnel Development qualification, as well as professionals with a business background who are entering the personnel and development function.
