Mobile operator 3 has signed up private healthcare provider Bupa to look after the health and wellbeing of its 2,400 UK staff.
Following an audit of 3’s healthcare needs, carried out by independent intermediaries Jelf Healthcare, Bupa designed the “3LifeHealth & Wellbeing” package, which will provide the company with an integrated healthcare service.
Under the deal, Bupa will provide medical insurance for employees as well as an employee assistance programme for staff and their families, giving them access to 24-hour telephone counselling and support.
A service dubbed the “3 Health Hub” will identify instances where employees could benefit from a personalised programme to restore them to health.
Bupa nurses will be on hand to assist employees and their managers and will suggest the best solution for each individual.

John Vickerman, 3’s people and property director, said it was beneficial to the company and its employees to bring together all the ingredients of health and wellbeing services under one provider.
“The 3 Health Hub will give managers access to expert medical support when someone falls ill and ensure we catch sickness issues at an early stage,” he said.
