Swiss life buys MTL
Occupational healthcare specialist MTL Medical Services has been bought by
the UK arm of Swiss life assurance firm Swiss Life. MTL would fit well with its
current disability insurance operations, said Swiss Life (UK). MTL had been
owned by bus and train company Arriva, which bought the business in February
last year for its public transport operations.
NHS to go on-line
The Government has outlined its future plans for telemedicine in the NHS,
saying it is to invest £700m in the new technology. Key elements will include a
web site, www.tis.bl.uk, e-mail chat room,
telephone inquiry and current awareness services. All local health services will
have telemedicine facilities by 2005 allowing patients to consulttheir GPs and
get backtest results without leaving their home, it added.
