No festive fun for misbehaving staff

A staggering 83 per cent of employers surveyed in a recent poll said they would not be organising a Christmas party for employees this year, because staff can’t behave themselves.

A survey of almost 2,000 employers by law firm Peninsula found 66 per cent have had to deal with drunken misdemeanours such as fights, arguments, and one night stands post-bash; 21 per cent have faced health and safety problems; and 10 per cent have had to deal with damage to the venue.

Peter Done, managing director of Peninsula, said: “Employers are just covering their backs when it comes to risking an office party with drinks in plentiful supply.”
