The Local Government Association (LGA) has come under fire after it emerged that it does not have a single senior officer from a black or minority ethnic background.
All 31 senior officers are white, despite 31% of its staff being drawn from black or minority ethnic communities, Local Government Chronicle reports.
Diveristy expert Elaine Sihera has written to the association expressing concern at the lack of representation. She told the magazine: “The LGA represents councils which service a multicultural society.

“Yet not one of its minority workers has been deemed suitable for its highest positions to reflect this diversity.”
The LGA said it would take “positive action in areas of difficulty”.
