The development of offshore wind power in could create up to 76,000 jobs in the UK, according to a new report.
The report, Offshore Wind – Onshore Jobs, said that up to 38,000 of the jobs would be made in the North East due to its history of manufacturing, strong skills base and access to seaports

The report, produced by Energy for Sustainable Development for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has pledged that 20 per cent of the UK’s energy will come from renewable sources by 2020.
However, the North East has competition, with East Anglia and Aberdeen among others vying to develop their wind farms.
