Simon Briggs has just started as the new personnel and training manager of
the Stirling Highland Hotel. He joins the firm having recently left Corus
Hotels in Glasgow where he was HR manager. His new role will involve all
aspects of HR management and training delivery for the four star hotel, which
employs 150 people. He will have responsibility for budgeting Investors In
People accreditation and disciplinary and grievance procedures, as well as
being in charge of all recruitment activity.

Construction firm David McLean has appointed Paul Renshaw to the newly
created post of group HR director. For the first time the role will cover all
three of the company’s divisions. Renshaw will be responsible for the HR
function across the construction, homes and development business units. He
moves from Bupa where he worked as commercial projects manager, following a
promotion from HR manager.
Cable & Wireless, the global communications firm, has a new head of HR
for the UK. Phillip Barr will also serve as part of the new senior management
team, created to refocus the business towards future growth. He joins from
Barclays Bank where he was the retail HR director. He has also held senior HR
jobs at the Woolwich Building Society, Barclaycard, Boots and Unilever.
