On the move: Kate Tilley, Steve Smith, Annie Paydar, Gail Motton, Sabine Hansen Peck, Sarah Wickenden, Clare Hayler

Design, engineering and management consultancy WSP UK has promoted Kate Tilley to HR director. Tilley has 10 years’ HR experience and has been with WSP since 2001. As a member of WSP UK’s Executive Committee, she will be accountable for developing and implementing the people strategy, which supports the achievement of the business strategy and plans. Tilley will also work with the wider WSP global team to identify, develop and build talent within the business. She will also manage business change and improvement projects focusing on benefits, communications and systems.

Mercer, the HR and related financial advice, products and services provider, has appointed Steve Smith UK head of HR. He joins from Alliance Trust where he spent five years as head of HR. He was group HR director at Aberdeen Asset Management before joining Alliance Trust.

Global private equity firm The Carlyle Group has named Annie Paydar head of HR for the European and Middle East and North African regions. Paydar has worked in HR at Carlyle for more than five years, previously leading HR activities in the New York office. She will be based in London. Paydar will head an HR team responsible for the company’s global HR strategy and initiatives, including compensation, performance management, training and development, recruitment and retention, and organisational development.

Gail Motton has joined Swanswell, a national charity that helps people overcome drugs, alcohol and other problem behaviour, as HR manager. Motton has worked with a number of national retailers including Stead and Simpson and Shoe Zone. She will have a key role in the coming months as the charity recruits staff to fulfil new contracts.

Sabine Hansen Peck has been appointed vice-president, HR at Amadeus, a technology provider for the travel and tourism industry. She will be responsible for HR across the 9,000-strong global workforce. Hansen Peck joins Amadeus from Citigroup, where she was head of HR, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Sarah Wickenden has been appointed senior international HR manager at credit rating company AM Best. She joins from Sprint Nextel, where she was HR manager, Europe.

DC Leisure has appointed Clare Hayler HR manager. Hayler joins the company from car rental firm Avis, where she spent six years. DC Leisure has to date outsourced its HR function. Hayler has been appointed to the company’s first full-time internal HR position at group manager level, and will be working to ensure that internal policies are consistent and robust.
