Oracle cuts 8 per cent of British workforce

Oracle
is to cut 270 jobs in the UK – around 8 per cent of its British workforce.

The
IT company has slashed budgets following a slump in its business.

In
a statement the company said: "No organisation is immune to the current
economic crisis."

However,
he added: "Oracle is constantly re-evaluating business-critical staffing
allocations as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate operations, retain staff
and increase technological efficiencies."

The
cuts amount to less than 1 per cent of the company’s global workforce.

Oracle
UK headquarters are in Reading. It also has offices in nine other towns
including London and Edinburgh.
