Personnel is by far the most popular job title for those working in people
management, preliminary results from Personnel Today’s phone poll reveals.
From 212 callers, 185 said the profession should call itself Personnel,
while only 26 think Human Resources is the right tag. And there has been just
one vote for newcomer Human Capital.
But a number of readers have claimed that in the week the IPDgains chartered
status a debate over the title professionals adopt portrays a lack of
confidence.

"It saddens me this is the most burning issue we have to debate – isn’t
the underlying debate whether we are there to defend staff or managers or to
find the best path to align the interest of both."
Phone lines are open for another week and calls should cost no more than 20
pence.
