Public Health England has published guidance on the health clearance of healthcare workers and the management of those infected with bloodborne viruses, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.

The guidance includes best practice information on securing health clearance for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV for new healthcare workers as well as the management of healthcare workers infected with hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV, including monitoring arrangements for those performing exposure-prone procedures.
It also addresses arrangements for undertaking patient notification exercises following the diagnosis of healthcare workers with hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV, plus the roles and responsibilities of the UK Advisory Panel on healthcare workers with bloodborne viruses and others involved in the management of healthcare workers infected with such diseases.
