Reality check for parcels firm as drivers vote on strike action

More
than 2,500 parcels delivery drivers and staff at freight company Reality are
voting on whether to strike after rejecting a 3 per cent pay offer.

Danny
Bryan, the Transport and General Workers’ Union national secretary and
spokesman for the Reality drivers, said the drivers were responding to the
increasing pressure afflicting the transport sector.

"With
one of the busiest times of the year coming upon us," he said, "the
drivers and staff at Reality are making it clear to the employers that the
stress and pressures of the transport industry have increased and are set to
increase further.

"Against
that background, they are looking for a better deal than is currently on offer
and are voting now on whether or not to strike in the run-up to
Christmas."
