The
RMT union says that it will fight ‘all the way’ for five London Underground
workers who have now been dismissed after a large amount of alcohol was found
in a mess room.
The
workers who were sacked following the discovery of more than 100 cans of
alcohol in a mess room.
Tube
company Metronet said the dismissals of the track maintenance staff related to
its "zero tolerance policy on alcohol".
However,
the union said Metronet had failed to link any of the workers with allegations
of illicit drinking on London Underground property.
RMT
general secretary Bob Crow said: "Not one of these workers has tested
positive for drugs or alcohol and the only evidence presented against them has
been circumstantial.

"Our
members are being used as scapegoats for management’s own complete incompetence
in investigating serious allegations," he added.
