UK
jobseekers place money as their top priority.
In
a poll of 2,377 jobseekers by Monster.co.uk, 47 per cent listed money as the
most important factor when choosing a new job. This was followed by location
(29 per cent), responsibility (19 per cent) and company image and reputation (4
per cent).
Joe
Slavin, managing director at Monster.co.uk said: "It’s a little ironic
that large UK corporations are spending millions of pounds on advertising
campaigns to become employers of choice while the jobseekers they’re trying to
entice are more concerned about other factors when considering job
opportunities.

"In
2001 companies in the UK spent £117m on corporate advertising. Is this money
well spent? Perhaps they could use some of their advertising budgets to offer
higher salaries to the right professionals."
