Clerical
and secretarial salaries have significantly increased, according to the latest
research.
A
study by IRS of 40 organisations between January and November last year, shows
that the median starting salary for clerical staff rose by 4.6 per cent to
£10,425 a year. Salaries at the top end of the scale rose by 9.1 per cent
during the survey period.
The
median lowest salary for secretarial positions now stands at £8,970 a year, compared
with £8,500 a year ago – an increase of 5.5 per cent.
The
research also suggests that bonus payments for these employees range between
one per cent and 15 per cent of their salaries.
However,
rising inflation in a tight labour market may well add to the pressures on
administrative salaries in the year ahead.Â
