Group 4 Securicor is looking to create a version of its global leadership scheme for its UK middle managers.
The security services company launched its ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ programme in 2005, offering selected top managers the opportunity to go on a two-year structured career development programme. It uses material and methodology from Manchester University’s executive MBA courses.
Since the scheme’s launch, only one participant has left the company, and it is now looking to run a similar scheme for middle managers.

Irene Cowden, group HR director at Group 4 Securicor, told Personnel Today: “We want to make the most of what we have learned with the Leaders of Tomorrow programme. We are looking to do something similar, but with a lower level of management. Half of the participants in Leaders of Tomorrow have been promoted since the start of the first programme.”
Group 4 Securicor operates in 100 countries worldwide, employing more than 400,000 people.
