The
cost of using external training varies according to the seniority of the
employees being trained, a survey by the CIPD reveals.
Training
and Development 2002 surveyed 502 training managers and directors drawn from
the CIPD membership nationwide.
While
the payments made to training providers vary between companies and regions,
directors and senior management training costs an average of £928, the survey
claims. This is over £500 a day more than manual workers and £300 more than
technicians, supervisors and clerical/administrative staff. The only group where
training costs were found to approach those of senior executive staff were
