Smokers in Croydon who are either self-employed or work in a business with
fewer than 25 staff can now have free workplace consultations by a trained
smoking cessation advisor.
The initiative by Croydon Council is being led by Annie Bamford,
occupational health adviser for small businesses from Croydon & Surrey
South Downs Community NHS Trust.
She can visit smokers at their work, provide information and test smokers’
carbon monoxide levels.

She can also help smokers decide if they are ready to quit, agree a quit
date if they are, and set a strategy that is the most likely to succeed.
