Smoking at work ban on hold

The Government is delaying a ban on smoking at work, according to a report in The Independent today.

The paper says ministers are holding up the enforcement of a Government code published in September which would prohibit smoking in the workplace.

Although the Department of Health wants the ban enforced, the Government is reported to be concerned about the effects on pubs, clubs and the hospitality industry in general.
