Channel Tunnel train company Eurostar is suspending its services to Brussels because of a one-day general strike by Belgian workers. They are protesting against social security reforms and changes to an early retirement scheme. Belgian workers are striking for the first time in more than a decade, disrupting schools, transport, government services and shops. Eurostar’s services between London and Brussels will start or terminate at Lille in northern France. The company said its customers due to go to and from Belgium could exchange their tickets, subject to availability, or have a full refund. The strike is not expected to affect UK flights to and from Belgium. Receive the Personnel Today Direct e-newsletter every Wednesday
