Surge in online jobs as eight out of nine sectors use internet more

Online job opportunities increased in eight out of nine occupational categories in December 2005, according to the Monster Employment Index.

The job creation index for the hospitality and tourism sector showed a significant rise to 133 points from 117 in November as businesses prepared to meet the anticipated demand during the festive season.

Recruitment opportunities for legislators, senior officials and managers grew significantly in December to 120 points compared with 107 the previous month.

There was also a higher demand for technicians and associate professionals, largely concentrated in the banking, insurance, administration and construction sectors.
