Businesses from across the county joined Sussex Downs College recently to celebrate the rebranding of the college’s Employer Training division.
The college, one of the largest employers in Sussex, invited businesses to a sumptuous three course lunch at the College’s Kings Restaurant to thank them for their support and to launch the rebranded services the College offers for employers.
The lunch was cooked and served by students studying catering and hospitality at the College and guests included representatives from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Eastbourne Borough Council.
The restructure across the College’s Employer Training arm has been led by Kirsti Godson, the new Managing Director of Employer Training at Sussex Downs College, and the addition of key staff dedicated to delivering training to employers.
John Blake, Principal of Sussex Downs College, also used the event to affirm his commitment to the Skills Pledge, a voluntary commitment made by employers to train all staff.
The College is committed to actively encouraging and supporting its employees to gain the skills and qualifications that will support their future employability and meet the needs of the College.
John Blake explained: “The College has itself already signed the Skills Pledge and today as part of this event we are offering an opportunity for other local businesses to join us in that commitment. As the largest FE provider in Sussex it’s important that we lead the way and encourage other businesses and organisations in the region to do the same.”
John Blake continued: “Our Ofsted report praised how the College responds to employer’s training needs and our Employer Training team can help local businesses to invest in valuable training and development and meet their own Skills Pledge.”
