David
Blunkett has made a further two temporary appointments at the Commission for
Racial Equality (CRE) following the controversial exit of Gurbux Singh
Ian Barr
and Khurshid Ahmed have been promoted to acting deputy chairs of the CRE, to
support Beverly Bernard as acting chair.
Both
have been serving commissioners since April and will work in the acting
positions until a permanent chair can be found.
Singh
resigned after pleading guilty to a public order offence. He received a £500
fine after admitting using threatening behaviour while at a cricket match.
Khurshid
Ahmed is currently a non-executive director of Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS
Trust while Ian Barr is managing director of consultants Astar.
