The Institute of Payroll Professionals (IPP) has awarded its prestigious Payroll Quality Partnership (PQP) accreditation to McKesson, the healthcare services and technology provider; Epson Telford, the printer cartridge manufacturer and NHS Payroll Services Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The objective of PQP is to enable payroll professionals to provide their customers with the highest level of value and service possible through effective payroll learning and development. The PQP process is based on the performance standards defined in the IPP Payroll Management Competence Framework and the diagnostic process in the IPP SkillScope.

Currently, there are 19 PQP-accredited organisations and a further 63 companies engaged to the scheme. Recently engaged organisations include Warwickshire County Council, the NES Group, Bury Council, Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership, Oxford City Council and Global Payments UK (formerly HSBC Merchant Services).

The PQP accreditation scheme was launched in July 2007 to provide a standard for performance management in payroll, encouraging organisations to maintain professional competence while enhancing and developing payroll skills and knowledge.

Liz Lay, Associate Director of Learning & Development at the IPP, said: “The PQP accreditation process is part of the Institute’s ongoing goal to uphold the highest standards in the payroll industry. It is because of organisations such as McKesson, Epson Telford and NHS Payroll Services Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust committing to their payroll department’s professional development that this becomes possible.”

Frank Rutley, Workforce Solutions Director at McKesson, said: “McKesson Shared Services is extremely delighted to have been awarded the IPP’s PQP accreditation. This prestigious accreditation demonstrates our commitment to delivering high quality HR and payroll services to the NHS.

“At McKesson Shared Services, we continue to work hard to develop services that greatly assist healthcare organisations in eliminating inefficiencies in workforce management and the PQP accreditation highlights our dedication to continually improving payroll functions for both staff and our clients.”

Kirsty Ryan, Payroll Controller at Epson Telford, said: “The payroll team at Epson Telford is proud to have been recently awarded the prestigious PQP accreditation from the IPP. We are delighted to have been recognised for the commitment we place in the learning and development of our staff. Obtaining the PQP award also demonstrates our ongoing dedication to delivering a professional and high quality service to all the employees in our organisation.”

Sue Childerstone, Head of Payroll at NHS Payroll Services Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “NHS Payroll Services is extremely proud to have been accredited with the IPP’s PQP award. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the professional development of our staff and the service delivered to our clients.

“We recognise that our staff are our best asset and we actively promote a culture which providesthe supportthey need to do their jobs effectively and develop as individuals. We are thrilled to have been recognised for the importance we place upon staff training and development which enhances the professional competence of our staff and is essential to the delivery of a quality payroll service.”

If you would like to find out more about the PQP scheme for partnership organisations and hear from employers that have attained the accreditation, a workshop is taking place on Tuesday, 7 December 2010 in Birmingham. The workshop is free to attend and you can register by emailing [email protected].
