Colleges apologise to MPs
The Universities and Colleges EmployersÍ Association has been forced to issue a grovelling apology to MPs after misrepresenting the education select committeeÍs position in the ongoing lecturers’ pay dispute. It had claimed the committee was backing employers in the pay battle. It apologised ñunreservedlyî for a “sorry situation”.

NHS Lothian equal pay claim
NHS Lothian in Scotland faces a multi-million pound payout after hundreds of health service workers lodged equal pay claims. More than 500 staff at the authority, mainly women working in lower-paid jobs, have lodged claims for backdated pay. Union leaders expect at least 1,000 NHS Lothian staff to claim.
