Then why not enter this year’s Personnel Today Awards?
Outsourcing is increasingly seen as a key contributor to operational effectiveness and competitive advantage and can apply to any aspect of the business or organisation, from traditional HR functions of recruitment/resourcing, training and development, to payroll, finance, IT and administration.
Entries should explain the business objectives behind the decision to outsource, give details as to how it was implemented and information about monitoring the provider’s performance.
“The outsourcing of non-core processes is the way that many of the world’s best-managed companies are taking their business,” says Graham Pascoe, a partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, who is judging the award.
“Outsourcing such processes as finance and accounting, IT, procurement, real estate and, of course, human resources, allows companies to focus precious time and resource on what it is that they do best – namely managing those parts of their business which gives them competitive edge.”

Effective outsourcing should bring significant benefits in terms of cost reduction, increased strategic focus, flexibility and responsiveness. The judge will be more interested in how the business or organisation has imaginatively used outsourcing as a solution to greater efficiency than which suppliers were involved.
“As exponents of the new breed of HR management we are delighted to be associated with this award,” says Steven French, HR director at sponsor TMP Worldwide Executive Resourcing. “Outsourcing can contribute to significant competitive advantage and is already heralding a new, challenging business environment for HR professionals.”
