Top companies realise that pay is not key driver

I was surprised to see that it was considered a ‘Bad Week For..’ employees at top firms, because they are paid on average 5% less (than rival organisations) despite working for companies that are better at retaining staff (Personnel Today, 20 May).

This merely confirms what we in HR know already, that job satisfaction isn’t all about salary. And it’s good news for staff if their company retains them through offering other benefits and a better environment than their rivals.
