Continuous professional development (CPD) could soon be de rigeur for most accredited members of UK professional bodies.
The second annual CPD survey found that the practice is mandatory in about 50% of responding institutions, while about half of the rest expect it to be in the next five years. Overall almost 90% of respondents said the requirements placed on members to meet CPD requirements would grow.
The survey was carried out by Echelon Publishing and is based on responses to e-mailed questionnaires completed and returned by 220 officers of professional bodies in January. These included the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Institution of Civil Engineers,
