Tomorrow’s 24-hour London Underground drivers’ strike has
been called off after talks between management and unions.
Another planned 24-hour strike over pay next Thursday has
also been called off following the last-ditch negotiations.
Unions have been claiming an additional £1,600 for passenger
train drivers, to match their salaries with those of workers who drive
engineering trains.
Bob Crow, the RMT’s assistant general secretary, said, “There
is no reason why there shouldn’t be a deal in the making.”
