UK Employers predict business administration as the must have apprenticeship for 2009

by Personnel Today 7 Aug 2008
by Personnel Today 7 Aug 2008

With the results period almost upon us, Alliance Learning are offering a series of Administration apprenticeships to help undecided students gain a clearer perspective on their future career path.

The importance of securing productive business skills is paramount in today’s economy.

The Council for Administration found in a recent study that 97% of all employers state that business administration is critical to the effective function of their business and 40% say they find it difficult to recruit suitably trained administration staff.

With such a high standard of expectation the need for specialised Administration courses has increased, with Alliance at the forefront, offering Bolton based vacancies in courses such as; Trainer Estimator, Customer Service Advisor, Office Junior, and Accounts Assistants.

The success of such apprenticeships is showcased in stories such as Harriet Lloyd, who is a previous Alliance Learning apprentice.

Having now completed her apprenticeship in business administration, Harriet is now a fully qualified Recruitment Officer, helping other young people to kick start their careers by working with them to gain apprenticeship roles within local businesses.

Speaking about her success, Harriet commented:

“The importance of studying for an admin related job is fundamental for gaining the vital basics for your future career. I thoroughly enjoy my job and feel from the skills I have acquired at Alliance, I have excelled in demonstrating to others the importance of getting a good skill base.

“Through my training I now have the experience to help others identify the key essentials they need to get by in today’s business environment.”

Further success in this field lies with former Business Administration Apprentice of the Year, Sarah Thoburn, who started her career as an Apprentice Administrator and has now completed both her apprenticeship and advanced apprenticeship in business administration.

Commenting on her role as Apprentice Administrator for Matrix247, Sarah said:

“I thrive off the challenges in my current job and I feel my previous education has added to this immensely. The Business Admin Apprenticeship has helped me in many ways in my day to day job in administration and Customer Services.

“Since leaving school I have been able to gain further qualifications whilst earning money. The course has also opened my eyes to understanding the value of my customers, colleagues and other competitors.”
