The
latest statistics have revealed another rise in the number of people out of
work in the UK.
Figures
from the Office for National Statistics show the number of people out of work
and claiming benefits increased to 963,500 last month, a rise of 3,200 on the
month.
Separate
figures, generated using the Government’s preferred International Labour
Organisation method, found a rise in unemployment of 15,000 to 1,522,000 in the
three months to November.
However,
the unemployment rate on the ILO definition remained unchanged over the quarter
at 5.1 per cent.
The
headline rate of growth for average earnings was slightly down in November at
4.2 per cent, a 0.1 per cent drop from October.
