Disgruntled
or malevolent employees are costing employers millions of pounds by hacking
into computers or causing damage to IT systems, according to internet police.
The
National Hi-Tech Crime Unit reported that 83 per cent of the 201 firms
questioned had suffered some sort of computer crime in the past 12 months.
According
to the findings, 17 per cent were the victims of criminal use of the web,
mostly by employees who sabotaged data.

This
type of cyber crime by former or current staff is said to have cost the
companies involved £23m.
