The culture of management at P&O has been criticised by
more than 50 workers at the transport and logistics company.
A conference of P&O staff affiliated to the T&G
union attacked the company for its terms and conditions, its poor consultation
record and questioned its commitment to negotiations.
Ron Webb, T&G national secretary, said, “The T&G
convened this conference at the request of the shop stewards themselves. While
we are seeking a modern style of industrial relations, including constructive
dialogue and a collective commitment to the success of the company, P&O’s
management is operating like it was still the 1980s.”
The T&G union is seeking discussions with P&O
management to discuss the issues.
