Police Force has launched a gay and lesbian recruitment drive to help fill 100
vacancies.
A
gay advice centre has been set up by the force with the assistance of
homosexual groups.
“There
may be all kinds of perceptions within the lesbian, gay and bisexual
communities about the police service as an employer. We want to show anyone
interested that we are an open and welcoming organisation,” said a spokesperson
for the force.
Commenting
on the recruitment drive, the Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Alliance, said, “It
shows how seriously the police take equality.”
A
careers drop-in centre has been arranged next week for potential gay recruits.
