Union leaders have warned T-Mobile Retail that there will be a number of “mystery union representatives” watching the way the mobile phone chain treats its workers in the next few months.
The move follows the company’s introduction of ‘mystery shoppers’, who will grade in-store staff. Workers have been told that all staff in a store could all lose their quarterly bonus if head office gives low grades to even one employee in the store.
According to the Communication Workers Union T-Mobile staff have been “outraged” by the company’s attempts to cut their bonuses.
Last month, the company increased many store and individual targets so that employees have to achieve more sales to earn bonuses.

The CWU said the local employee council had failed to have any impact on the company’s move and consultation was “non-existent”.
The first news that it’s members had about the changes was via an e-mail from head office, the union said.
