University staff have accepted a 15.5% pay increase, ending a series of bitter stand-offs between higher education institutions and the academics and support staff they employ.
Staff including porters, cleaners and gardeners as well as catering and maintenance staff voted 94% in favour of the pay rise.
Chris Kaufman, T&G national secretary and chief negotiator for further and higher education staff, said the deal was a good move forward but the union would continue to fight “to eradicate poverty pay for our members in universities”.
