It’s a standing joke that IT not only speaks a different
language, but that it actively keeps the rest of us at bay via acronyms and
high-tech terms. Here is the perfect parry to their jargon – a site that
explains just about every technical term there is. You simply key in a word or
acronym (from ADSL to XML and all points in between) and it’ll return a
definition PDQ. It doesn’t always use the plainest English, but given the
extent of its database, it has done a pretty good job of deciphering IT lingo
for us. You can also sign up for e-mail alerts, which include a Word of the Day
that hyperlinks to its definition. Now, isn’t that more profitable than reading
the paper in your coffee break?
