A newly appointed HR director has pledged to bring work-life balance to the City.
Anne Stevens, this month appointed global head of HR at online trading company CMC Markets, believes her appointment can mark a shift in thinking for the financial services industry.
The former European director of professional development at IBM Business Consulting Services is CMC’s first strategic-level HR professional.
“This is a significant appointment,” she told Personnel Today. “This is a competitive industry that is not always recognised for its focus on people.”
Stevens said her goals included promoting “a work-life balance not usually featured in the financial services industry”.

“A major challenge is to focus CMC and its people on how to step up to becoming a premier league player in the world of employment and careers,” she added.
CMC founder and chief executive Peter Cruddas has been tagged the City’s richest man. He has a fortune in excess of £1bn and made headlines this month with plans to donate £100m to charity.
