UK
workers want fixed retirement ages scraped, according to a new poll.
Almost
three-quarters (72 per cent) of people – regardless of age, social class or
gender – think fixed retirement ages are old-fashioned and unnecessary,
according to research published today by Age Concern. Nine out of 10 people
think that older workers should be able to choose when they retire.
The
poll also found that:
86
per cent disagree that employers should have the right to get rid of anyone
over 65, solely on the grounds of age.
