BA strikes loom as negotiations break down

Talks between British Airways and the Union Unite aimed at averting a strike have collapsed without agreement.

Union leaders representing British Airways cabin crew will meet later to decide whether to call industrial action

in a row over pay, jobs and working conditions.

No further talks have been planned, according to the TUC, which is hosting the meetings.

BBC business correspondent John Moylan said it looks increasingly likely that strike dates will be announced.

If so, the strike dates must be announced by Monday 15 March – the day when the union’s mandate for industrial action runs out.

Last month a ballot of Unite cabin crew members saw 81% vote in favour of industrial action.
