McDonald’s has unveiled its new staff uniform, designed by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway. The designs will make their debut at McDonald’s restaurants at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and will then be rolled out to McDonald’s 87,500 employees across the UK in the autumn.
McDonald’s sought input from employees through each step of the design process to ensure they were both practical and popular with its diverse workforce, including those aged from 16 to 86. McDonald’s asked 300 employees across five restaurants to test the uniform before designs were finalised and production commenced.
Jez Langhorn, vice president, people at McDonald’s UK, said: “People are fundamental to the success of our business and we know how important a great uniform is to morale and motivation. We’re delighted to have an iconic British design team, led by Wayne Hemingway, on board to help us create our new look. They’ve succeeded in coming up with a contemporary and fresh design that I know our people will feel proud to wear.”
