The past year of pandemic and crisis has been immensely challenging for everyone working within occupational health. Now’s the time to celebrate all the profession has done, and continues to do, for the health and wellbeing of the nation – by entering this year’s Occupational Health & Wellbeing Awards.
From managing spiralling mental ill health through to providing calm leadership on infection control, health surveillance and the rehabilitation ramifications of ‘long Covid’, the Covid-19 pandemic continues to challenge occupational health practitioners.
Occupational Health & Wellbeing Awards 2021
Yet, if anything, this makes it even more important that we should be recognising the contribution OH makes and continues to make.
Practitioners, quite rightly, have a reputation for just quietly, efficiently and professionally getting on with the job.
At OHW+ and Occupational Health & Wellbeing, however, we want to make a bit of noise about the profession. We want to celebrate the innovation and sheer hard work and expertise of all practitioners.
The Occupational Health & Wellbeing Awards are an opportunity to thank your team for all they have done over the past 12 months and to showcase your work – your excellence – to your peers and the wider workplace health/OH community.
And the awards are now open (as of Monday 19 July). So get entering!
The Occupational Health & Wellbeing Awards will be your chance to validate the great work you know you already do, and to have your team and work profiled on OHW+. You do not need to be an OHW+ member to enter.
Entries are now open. But don’t delay. The closing date for submissions is now Friday 22 October.
Six categories to choose from
The categories for the 2021 Occupational Health & Wellbeing Awards are unchanged on last year, and are:
- Best mental health initiative
- Best musculoskeletal initiative
- Best wellbeing initiative
- OH team of the year (private sector)
- OH team of the year (public sector)
- Best multidisciplinary initiative
Entries are welcome from OH teams of all sizes, whether directly employed or working on a contract basis. Entries from individual practitioners will also be very welcome. Teams can enter as many categories as they wish. The awards are free to enter.
For the OH team of the year (public sector), we welcome applications from teams working within the NHS and charity sector as well as more widely within the public sector. Read the full criteria for each category.
Once the deadline has closed, entries will be judged by a panel of occupational health experts. A shortlist will be published online on OHW+ in November.
The winners will then be announced on OHW+ on Friday 10 December 2021.
The winners will have an opportunity to be profiled within Occupational Health & Wellbeing on OHW+ and will receive special winners’ certificates (digital and physical).
The Occupational Health & Wellbeing Awards are therefore a much-needed opportunity for OH teams and practitioners to make some noise, to get the credit you deserve for the amazing work you do, day in and day out. I urge you to enter this year’s awards.” – Nic Paton, editor, Occupational Health & Wellbeing
Nic Paton, editor of Occupational Health & Wellbeing, said: “When you’re up against it, as OH practitioners have been for the past 18 months, it is all too easy to become totally focused on the day to day and fail to appreciate all that you and your team have achieved.
“The Occupational Health & Wellbeing Awards are designed to rectify that, to give practitioners and their teams a chance to reflect on the great work they’ve done and to celebrate and cheer their achievements.
“For the past three years, our judges have been blown away by the quality and calibre of our awards’ entries, and I am confident this year will be no different. OH has a great story to tell, and we need to be shouting it from the rooftops.
