Domino’s buys in HR support with £1m contract

Business consultancy MJL Group has signed a £1m deal with Domino’s Pizza to provide HR and health and safety support.

The contract with Domino’s will see MJL provide a 24-hour advice line for franchisees and an employee induction programme available in multiple languages to encourage maximum use by the company’s diverse workforce.

MJL will also develop an e-learning package and online reporting and information system to help ensure that its franchisees are compliant with the latest employment law.

Domino’s came under fire last year after claims by migrant workers that some managers made illegal deductions from their pay by franchise owners. Unions also accused the firm of losing control of its franchisees.

In response, Domino’s blamed a lack of clarity about HR procedures as part of the problem. The pizza company operates more than 500 stores across the UK and Ireland, most of which are franchises.

Chris Moore, Domino’s chief executive, said: “Consistency is an inevitable challenge in a franchised business, but here at Domino’s we are committed to leading our industry by providing unparalleled support to franchisees and their team members.”
