A leading employment minister has slated Britain’s “useless” line managers.
Barbara Follett, parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department for Work and Pensions, said bosses had consistently failed to get the most from their workers.
She said that an inability to use innovative processes to motivate employees had held the UK economy back.

“The UK has been a failure in productivity because we have failed to engage our workforce,” she said. “Our managers are useless in this country.”
Follett was speaking at a British Chambers of Commerce fringe meeting at the Labour Party Conference in Bournemouth this morning.
