Almost half (45%) of HR professionals would be willing to move overseas to enhance their career prospects, according to a report by recruitment consultants Robert Half International.
But 44% of respondents admitted that they did not explore potential opportunities to work overseas within their own companies before moving abroad.
Nearly three-quarters of HR professionals (71%) said that training on intercultural behaviour would be useful when trying to understand cultural differences, the international survey of 1,800 HR and finance executives in 11 countries showed.

Four in 10 HR employees believed the best time to live abroad was after a couple of years of work, before “settling down”, and more than one-third (36%) said the best time was shortly after graduating.
Phil Sheridan, managing director of Robert Half Finance & Accounting, said: “Where appropriate, companies must help their staff further their careers internationally, and encourage them to look internally for opportunities abroad rather than looking elsewhere.”
