As 2005 comes to a close, Personnel Today is celebrating one of its best ever years.
Not only did we carry out a successful redesign – which was the talk of the annual Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development conference in Harrogate this October – but this year has seen Personnel Today push the HR profession firmly into the national spotlight.
Between 1 January and 7 December 2005, we generated a record breaking 460 media mentions across television, radio, the national press, regional newspapers, websites and newswires.
These national media appearances had an advertising equivalency (AVE) of 830,368, reaching a total audience of 71,562,227. In contrast, the CIPD’s magazine, People Management, generated just 58 mentions, of which none were on television or radio, with an AVE of just 174,093 and an audience of 12,125,969 (Source: media monitoring and evaluation service, Durrants).
Whether campaigning for more recognition for HR in government regulations, leading the coverage on employee health issues or breaking numerous exclusives in areas such as equal pay legislation, retirement age and pensions, 2005 has proved that Personnel Today is the only magazine the truly strategic HR professional needs.
Karen Dempsey, editor of Personnel Today, said: “The incredible level of national interest in our stories shows how far HR has come in its battle for more recognition. We will continue to push the agenda forward in 2006, highlighting HR’s key role in business success and providing an independent voice for the HR profession in the UK.”
