UK business will call on Gordon Brown and Michael Howard to promise there will be no more tax on business at the annual conference of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) today.
Of 550 business leaders who took part in the BCC general election survey, 90% said they were worried future tax increases will have a damaging impact on their firms.
BCC president, Bill Midgley, said tax was top of the agenda and employment regulation was close behind.

“Employers remain concerned about a range of issues that really matter to the day-to-day running of their firms,” he said.
“From the rising burden of regulation which has cost an extra £39bn since 1998, skill shortages which continue to act as a barrier to raising productivity, to congestion on our roads and rising pension costs. Businesses will be seeking answers today.”
