February saw a 12% monthly rise in job opportunities, marking the highest number advertised since 2009. This is according to the analysis of job advertisement trends throughout the UK, conducted by recruitment agency Reed.
Of the 33 sectors analysed in Reed’s monthly Job Index, 31 reported growth, while six out of the 10 sectors reported a 10% increase, compared with January.
According to the figures, the largest increases were seen in the charity and voluntary sectors (66%), social care (45%) and the education sector (41%).
All regions of the UK reported an increase in job opportunities in February, with the West Midlands showing the strongest growth, shortly followed by North-East England and the East Midlands. London saw an increase of 10% in job opportunities, compared with the same period the previous year.

Martin Warnes, managing director of Reed, said: “The latest Reed Job Index figures provide further confirmation of robust and continued growth in the employment market. The vast majority of sectors and regions are consistently offering more opportunities.”
He added: “The growth in the jobs market has been a shining light over the last year and we continue to call on policymakers to help practically energise a true jobs led recovery for the UK.”
